(1,319 posts)For a long time I tried to convince myself that Harris lost because 170 million Americans are just stupid. But I'm a numbers freak and as more information on voting numbers and patterns has been published, the harder it has become to believe that simple stupidity is to blame.
Without having to resort to any fancy math, here is a simple test. We are told that we are a very polarized society divided close to 50/50. That is the country as a whole, with some states red and others blue. Then they are the 7 swing states. As states they are very nearly divided 50/50. Hence, the name "swing"; may go either way. On election day all 7 went for Trump with margins outside of the automatic recount threshold. You would expect a 4 to 3 split. Flip a nickle 7 times. You will very probably get a 3 to 4 split. On occasion, the odds are low, you might get a 5 to 2 split. The chances of getting a 7 to 0 split are real close to zero. The only way Trump could have won all 7 states was if he was using a coin with his orange mug on both sides. Also, a recent study of key swing counties shows that almost all of them broke for Trump. Statistically speaking that is pretty much not going to happen. The election was stolen.
