5. Tough question. I was going to vote "no" but seeing so many DUers

vote "yes" has me thinking.

My reasoning for voting "No" is that I think Putin, Trump and Xi are more preoccupied with dividing up the planets into spheres of influence than fighting wars. Also, I don't really know who our enemy would be. It wouldn't be China, since Russia and China already have an alliance.

But I need to think this through. I don't see what is to be gained by the United States, except that it relieves us of our responsibilities to defend anybody but ourselves (and Russia?). I just can't.... Sure, Putin loves the prestige of such a notion. Again, though: An alliance against who? And please don't say "an alliance against Europe, Canada, Greenland and Japan," because that's absurd. But maybe nothing is too absurd for Trump.

But I've been accused of naivete before.
