In 1975 I worked with "Hunger Hotline", an organization sponsored by ecumenical group of LA churches and also financially supported by Jane Fonda. She quietly visited a small meeting to thank us college student volunteers who were provided room and board and bus fare for our work that summer. We answered phones (some Spanish required) referring people to meals provided at churches and explaining how to apply for food stamps, distributed flyers to let people know where to get free meals and we took food stamp applications at unemployment offices. We helped lots of people that summer and had quite an eye opening experience on streets of LA.

So I know she not only speaks out but provides financial help too.
