Showing Original Post only (View all)Once again we have people dragging our Dem leader for their OWN failure to give him what he now needs to stop Trump [View all]
...and it comes with performative expectations which would, presumably, ultimately lead to a motivation of US, the American people to act against the republicans who CONTROL ALL BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT, INCLUDING THE SUPREME COURT.
I watched Rachel Maddow's interview with the Dem House leader last night, and I thought, why did she bother to spend so much time questioning the Dem leader about how HE was going to stop the republican majority.
Think about that for a minute.
The party with the most seats in Congress (republicans) has a voting majority.
They have the exclusive power to conduct congressional investigations, control the gavels, agenda, and votes of committees which allows them to direct hearings to demand and subpoena information. They also have the exclusive power to impeach.
The majority party has the exclusive power when it comes to drafting chamber rules, and in deciding which bills the House will consider and vote on.
The Rules Committee (with republicans holding the majority of votes) controls what bills go to the House Floor and the terms of debate.
The makeup of the Rules Committee has traditionally been weighted in favor of the majority party, and has been in its current configuration of 9 majority and 4 minority members since the late 1970s.

Here's the thing. These Dem leaders have made many, many more substantive appearances than whatever clickbait, idiotic questioning teevee journos can manage to elicit out of their ten minute opportunity.
They have access to what our Democrats are actually doing, it's not a secret, or as perplexing as the furrows on Rachel's brow when she asks stupid questions like 'wow are you going to stop Trump?" asking of a party completely out of power and authority.
And journos like Maddow know well what the limitations are of a House and Senate minority, facing off against a republican majority advantaging a republican White House.
Fucking by now, Maddow and the rest should be long past this cloying, disingenuous demanding the Democrats we managed to elect do what they know well they don't have the numbers to effect. What a sham.
You can just imagine our Dem leaders listening to the Maddows out there still demanding the party out of power roil the election results, and wondering when, if ever, they are going to cover the events and advocacy that our legislators and leaders have been effecting all along without a mention by the very same press.
All the while, whingers whinging are busy pretending like their inanities and sophistries about Democrats are supposed to represent advocacy against republicans.
