...so what is this magic shit Dems are supposed to do?
And I'm not expecting people who think criticizing Democrats for what republicans are doing in the majority right now is some sort of brilliant political strategy to have even looked to see what Dems have said and are doing.
And I'm not lying to myself that these same critics will ever do anything to promote what the Democratic leadership is saying or doing. They haven't done so far.
Nothing in these criticisms to suggest they will EVER cover or post ANYTHING ANY DEM is saying or doing, but I have. I do it daily. I mean, you can't get these critics to even mention that republicans are pushing forward a budget plan as we speak, on the floor of the House.
No mention from them that Democrats will vote unanimously against it, having no power at all to stop the thing on their own votes, and that republicans hold the votes to pass the thing.
So why do you need me to tell you what's hapopening right in front of you?
Did you miss the part where we lost the majority? No, you couldn't have mised that, huh?
And lookee here. you're presenting this canard (lie) that Democrats should be able to do what the republican minority did in blocking bills.
First refutation of this lie is that this isn't the same Congress, not the same makeup.
Secondly, it's a lie that Democrats can procedurely or otherwise block the republican budget on their own votes or initiative.
The party with the most seats in Congress (republicans) has a voting majority.
They have the exclusive power to conduct congressional investigations, control the gavels, agenda, and votes of committees which allows them to direct hearings to demand and subpoena information. They also have the exclusive power to impeach.
The majority party has the exclusive power when it comes to drafting chamber rules, and in deciding which bills the House will consider and vote on.
The Rules Committee (with republicans holding the majority of votes) controls what bills go to the House Floor and the terms of debate.
The makeup of the Rules Committee has traditionally been weighted in favor of the majority party, and has been in its current configuration of 9 majority and 4 minority members since the late 1970s.
Thirdly, Senate Democrats have a filibuster provision to advantage their opposition, not the House Democrats.
Last Senate majority had TWO centrists who liked to vote with republicans to make up a razor-slim majority. Again, a situation which some people think is a perfect moment to troll the party for not getting this or that done with the nothing Democrats sent them there with.
Senate Dems actually blocked the FIRST republican bill of this Congress, ONE DAY after Trump was sworn in:

Republicans vote unanimously for the worst things, for abhorrent things, because, there is no principle in what they are voting for. Be more like republicans? Wtf?
