(still couched in terms of 'temporary' ) in place in case of the unexpected. Nobody here is telling people to stop using digital or plastic - or, even more reactionary, pull all of their assets out of banks or investment.

Having about a week's, or perhaps slightly more, worth of cash on hand is not a bad ( nor a terribly radical ) idea. Think about it ...
