In reply to the discussion: "For the first time in the poll's history, congressional Democrats are now underwater with their own voters" [View all]lapucelle
(20,954 posts)17. The author of the opinion piece conflated three different polls
(two of which didn't even ask the "approval" question) and devised the chart. Apparently the author thought that no one would read the fine print or research the actual polling dates and questions.
All of the data he sources comes from February polling. It has nothing to do with Chuck Schumer voting to keep the federal courts and the Social Security Administration open rather than closing them as an act of "resistance".
It turns out that the author owns the data company that devised the chart. No wonder he's flogging it.

Interestingly, the author of the opinion piece does link to a Gallup poll (from February as well) that asked Democrats this question:
Partisans' Preferences for the Ideological Direction of Their Parties
If you had to choose, would you rather see the Democratic Party become more liberal, stay the same or become more moderate?

What are you talking about? It was the voters who "kept Bernie out of the presidency", not the Democratic Party.

Did you read the story you linked to or the Gallup poll it cited? "45% wanted the Party to become more moderate".

Ah yes, the fallacy of false alternative used in support of the fallacy of equivocation.
