..... try and throw out the bums and gain control. They will get out to vote in droves to toss out the Trump cultist.
But here is what we all have to remember.
The saying, "It is not who votes that counts; it is who counts the votes," is commonly attributed to Joseph Stalin, the former leader of the Soviet Union. However, there is no definitive evidence that Stalin actually made this statement. The quote's origin remains uncertain, and its attribution to Stalin is likely apocryphal.
While the quote itself is likely misattributed to Stalin, the underlying idea—that controlling the vote-counting process can undermine democracy—is well supported by historical facts, documented abuses, and modern election integrity concerns.
Soviet Union & Authoritarian Regimes
In the USSR, elections were often staged, and results were fabricated. There was one party, and vote-counting was a formality. The party officials (the ones “counting”) had total control.
Similar patterns occurred in Nazi Germany, Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, and North Korea, where official vote counts were often above 90% in favor of the ruling party.

To avoid abuse of power in vote counting, the U.S. has implemented:
1. Bipartisan election observers
2. Paper ballots or auditable paper trails
3. Post-election audits
4. Court challenges and recount procedures
5. Freedom of Information laws that allow for scrutiny
However, these systems require vigilant enforcement and public trust, which can erode if officials or parties sow doubt or secretly alter vote counts.
While the quote may be apocryphal, the idea behind it is rooted in real history. When those in power manipulate vote counts—or even seem to—democracy is at risk. It's a reminder that transparency and integrity in the counting process are just as vital as the right to vote.
