My brother is one of those. I've been an activist all my life. My brother entered the political sphere relatively recently. Post election, he avoids the news not because he is unaware, but because he is too aware, and being faced daily, or more frequently, too hard on his mental health. As much as I hate him backing away, I also know that staying involved when it threatens your mental health is not helpful.
