People in general don't understand supply chains and think of them in terms of shipping stuff over weeks and months. But items like coffee are coming in through our ports daily, the ports are where the tariffs are levied. Coffee goes from port to shelf in a very short time, a matter of days in some instances, at most weeks. There aren't giant warehouses filled with coffee anywhere.

The entire supply chain for nearly everything is set up for just in time delivery. It's one of the founding principles of lean, to not have costly inventory and to pull the raw materials into your production system only when you're ready to use them.

Here in Michigan, the entire auto industry is having a bomb detonated over it. The tier 2 and tier 3 suppliers cannot absorb more costs this quickly without serious consequences. I expect mass layoffs throughout the month and beginning as soon as this week.
