In reply to the discussion: Trump did not want to be elected to be the President. [View all]J_William_Ryan
(2,796 posts)3. "The American people will suffer greatly from this great political fiasco."
A fiasco the American people are solely responsible for.
Trump isn’t some foreign invader who took control through conquest; he isn’t a domestic insurgent who came to power via a violent coup.
Trump was elected lawfully and constitutionally – the consequence of the fear, ignorance and stupidity, the racism, bigotry, and misogyny of the voters.
In 2024 we witnessed a catastrophic failure of democracy, with the voters democracy’s greatest flaw.
The people are solely responsible for the bad government they get.

We will suffer precisely as long as we put up with it. No cavalry is coming to save us. We do it or we do not.

Pain is the great motivator. Perhaps we've suffered more intensely and universally, we'll move off our current positions

The whole cabinet is cosplaying. They're like a bunch of teen influencers posting selfies on Instagram.

I noticed this term, he never has ANYTHING on the Resolute desk, except when he signs stuff. "I don't wanna work..."

I can't remember which one, but one of the early books on the Trump presidency said he didn't want the job in 2016.

The word conservative needs to be excised from the Republican Party. They cconserve nothing: they are arsonists.

Totally agree. We're in a mess and Congress is useless. It's up to us to RESIST and VOTE as long as we can.

Simple: he ran to feed his ego, escape prosecution. He likely has now been programmed to believe he is doing God's work
