Reality TV. (which is generally anything BUT real!) I remember exactly where it came from and why. I didn't support it when they were trying to screw the actors and crews of shows, and I still don't support it. The whole thing was borne of a cheat... cheat people out of money and rewards they were truly due, so that more profits moved into the studios and bigwigs' pockets. I have such a real bad taste in my mouth for the whole damn genre... especially as it's only gotten more dumb and more and more exploitive. In fact, my feeling is so bad, there's only one show I've ever watched... and yes, I AM addicted to it. But then, it's a real world example of real world people showing off their talents, hard work, and expertise. Don't laugh, but I'm talking about BattleBots. There's a lot of STEM research and engineering that goes into those robots. And while as a viewer I love KO's, I still feel bad about how much damage they take. I can see it as a black hole where all the money goes, which is why there's probably so much family involved in most of these.

I believe we are living through a dystopian reality show that only the most extreme sadist could brew. And I worry how much farther he'll get before we finally catch a clue from other countries and their relationship with their people. Most countries go out on general strikes and more... they'll shut down whole economies and cities with their protests. This is what I think we need to see in this country before ANY of our media starts talking about it. And more's the shame. As we protest to keep freedom of the press, the main press seems to be doing all it can to build up restrictions. Whats the phrase? Capitulate before you're asked? Something like that. That's how I see our press, now that Bush got the Heritage Foundation's wish of all but monopolizing the media with the billionaire class.
