(428 posts)The arguments that imploring our elected Democratic Party representatives to take a stand on this issue is divisive are strange. They seem to be implying that asking for perfection or setting up a purity test seem to be either put forward to try to silence the left or, even more strangely, be offered by those who have more love for the institution of the Democratic Party or its personalities than its principles. There is a battle going on for the direction of the Democratic Party and it seems some just want those they disagree with to sit on their hands lest they create division. When cross referencing other discussions here, I cant but help these sorts of arguments are being used to quiet the socially progressive wing of the party and get back to focusing on the average American. I put the term in quotes because I dont know what it means, but Im sure the users know how theyre using it, and Im sure it excludes some of us.
