General Discussion
In reply to the discussion: What percent of MAGAS do you believe would approve of disappearing Democrats? [View all]My statement did not argue that a high ratio of views to replies is a telltale sign of a shit-stirring OP. Nothing of the sort.
That first paragraph just argued that it was incorrect to claim that 64% of DU'ers (rather than 64% of the post's respondents) want re-education camps for MAGAs:
Of the 5,614 DU'ers who've viewed that OP as of this writing, 121 agreed with putting MAGAs in re-education camps. That's about 2% of the people who viewed the post.
The second paragraph expressed, with all the tact I could muster under the circumstances, my suspicion that many other viewers may have shared my feeling that the OP was a classic shit-stirrer:
I suspect that many of the 5,493 DU'ers who viewed the OP but did not reply may have dismissed it as an example of deliberate shit-stirring.
Had there been relatively few non-responding viewers, I would still have suspected that a lot of them shared my feelings. And in case I've been too coy, let me here be plain: I feel that OP was a classic shit-stirrer. That's why I've refrained from boosting it by replying to it directly or linking to it from this thread.
One point you've made earlier, which I must concede, is that we can not assume that all viewers are regular DU'ers. Some may be casually-interested liberals, and others surely must be right-wing lurkers.
MAGA lurkers who view such a sensationalist post will likely want to call it to the attention of their fellow MAGAs, to bolster their belief that "The Democrats want to take away our freedoms and throw us into concentration camps if they get voted back into power!". Indeed, that might partially account for the very high number of views the OP has scored - higher than all but two or three of the current OP's in GD.
In which case I can only say: congratulations, mate, well done.

OP
Probably at least as large as the percentage of DUers that support "re-education camps" for Repubs.

Not 64% of DU'ers. Just 64% of the people who deemed that OP worthy of a response.

You can't punish people for being bad people. You can only punish them for doing bad things.

That's not quite right. Many of us do not support putting Maga in re-education camps.
