12. From what I am reading & surmising, I have to wonder if he was not chosen intentionally as a vocal obstacle/counter

to Trump and other authoritarians who have turned their back on all but the oligarchy while lacking any and all compassion for the poor.

He may be from the US, but his roots include a lot of time in Latin America--just as with Francis.
