(2 posts)Well, at first I thought maybe the material was too dense for most reporters to be sure about and given that it’s a bombshell story, perhaps they are hesitant to publish it until they have confirmation.
Then I thought maybe the Congress folks and DNC and state AGs or governors had agreed with other dem insiders not to break it until they have more time to amass support at the grass roots level and launch their lawsuit so that the crazies don’t attack them and make it impossible to work.
It’s possible at first, everyone was just so shocked they went immediately from fighting to win to lying on the floor crying. And of course we had ALL been inoculated against making claims like maga did so we wouldn’t look like we are calling wolf. Plus we had spent a decade convincing ourselves how safe elections are.
I’ve heard of 3 congressional reps who have acknowledged shenanigans— Maxine Waters, Eric Swalwell, and Jasmine Crockett.
I’m getting a little worried that most of them just don’t believe it as time passes.
Best case scenario is that the big press (at least a dozen small time media articles plus Newsweek have stories already) is waiting for dem leaders to confirm, and dem leaders are taking time to hone the complex message, get security in place for existing ballots and ballot records so they aren’t destroyed, draft guidance for states for securing future elections, and gather more evidence and analysis before confirming it.
It’s striking though, the seeming vow of silence, or is it just hesitation by Marc Elias, Meidas Touch, other big influencers, the Brennan Center, the universities, think tanks, the DNC, Harris campaign, 99% of representatives, governors and AGs and secretaries of state. Maybe they need proof because it’s such a hot potato.
ETA did allude to new partnerships with more powerful players. Maybe it’s just getting an underground investigation going and preparing among so many partners for the legal challenges, breaking this story and its aftermath and implications. They need time.
Heaven knows they don’t have a DOJ…. Oh but wait, the state AGs could be getting ready to sue because they have their own state level investigators… hmmmm. Which swing states have dem AGs and secretaries of state and governors? Maybe Letitia James and Fani Willis will save us all.
