(37,448 posts)Because it was Biden that decided some of that policy. Trump's merely stopping what I've always thought as a stunted, warped policy. Then again, what do I know? But after striding timidly over redline after redline, always too late to stop horrible slaughter, perhaps that showed wisdom. Or pips that sqeaked loudly, but pippishly.
Then, regarding this particular bit of military policy, there's that little agreement that says we can't send warships into the Black Sea without Turkey's permission--and Turkey's "neutrality" has stopped pretty much all military vessels' transit through the Dardanelles.
How, exactly, *could* we stop Russia's missile/drone attacks without either violating that agreement or, maybe, you know, simply sending munitions to Ukraine.
In the case of Israel, some is exactly what we did in Ukraine--send anti-missile defense armaments and munitions. But a lot has been, in response to imminent threats, to have ships stationed off shore and resources in the air. Can't do that 24/7/365.
