Göring was one of the few who had actually participated in the fomenting of an immense war, and lived long enough to be completely candid about how he and his cronies did it. Notably, he was one of the last surviving architects of the Second World War left to give a "how we did it" interview before he committed suicide in his cell. You don't have to like him, but I think we should believe him.
