(150,945 posts)That does not mean that I get involved in those.
Instead, I have always worked to help elect candidates where I am. I don't do as much of that, now that I'm pushing 80 years in age. But, I'm still involved. For me, my time and donations have more impact on local races than on races elsewhere. So, the local races are my primary focus.
As for New York City, I have nothing to offer there. I don't know the politics, the candidates, nor the issues. I live half a country away from there. We have our own issues here in the Twin Cities. I currently live in a community that wobbles back and forth between Democratic and Republican elected officials. If I can help it wobble to the left, then I have actually done something that means something.
I'm going to let NYC votes decide for themselves. I'm confident a Democrat will be the Mayor. Which one? I'm not sure how much that matters in the larger scheme of things.
I try to put my limited energy into things where that energy can actually make a difference. That's what I have always done. And it has made a difference.
