(78,881 posts)Democrats live in New York State, though not in the city. Yet who is mayor in NYC has an influence on the rest of the state.
It can be a good thing for people to be aware of what is going on outside of their surroundings. It is a bad trend for our party when Democrats -- either in office or not -- advocate against our party's nominees. If it happens in NYC, it will spread unless we crush it.
Not that many years ago, although I have never been in Florida, much less been there, I did speech writing for a good Democrat running for Congress. Democrats today at the grass roots level need to fight on every level. The last thing we need is the stick-in-the-mud attitude that, say, if Andrew Cuomo runs for mayor on a third party ticket -- an idea seemingly back by some "leaders" who are far, far out of touch with the voters -- that it is anything other than a horrible idea, that could spread across the country.
