In reply to the discussion: Truth about the attack on "Big Balls" [View all]SunSeeker
(58,358 posts)37. No, the police didn't say they saw him push her. That was Coristine telling the cops that.
Edward Coristine, also known by his online name, Big Balls, and a woman characterized in a police report as his significant other were the victims of an unarmed attempted carjacking early Sunday.
...
The report added that police officers saw about 10 juveniles surrounding the car and assaulting Coristine, which prompted the officers to get out of their vehicle and all but two of the juveniles, whom police arrested, to flee. Police said that in an interview, Coristine said he pushed the woman identified as his significant other into the car and turned to deal with the suspects, who in turn assaulted him.

So, when the scene caught the cops' attention, the woman was inside the car and Coristine was outside fighting with the 15 year olds.
It was 3 am on a Sunday morning. Coristine wasn't going to church. In Washington, D.C., most bars close at 2:00 a.m. on weeknights, but they have extended hours on Friday and Saturday nights, closing at 3:00 a.m. What the fuck was he doing out with his "significant other" at 3 am? Sure sounds like he got kicked out of a bar at closing time and picked up a hooker, then got jumped by a bunch of teens for his car. The police report noted the teens were unarmed, and that it was an unarmed attempted carjacking.
I'd love to know what kind of car it was. I bet it was flashy, just the kind of thing that would grab teens' attention in the late night/early morning hours on a Saturday night. I bet he bought it with taxpayer money.
I lived in DC for 3 months in my 30s. I am a woman, and I was going to nightclubs, bars and restaurants a lot, meeting friends there or going alone. I always took the Metro and never had a problem. Cars are a liability in DC...even if you can find a parking spot.

The police report says Coristine identified her as his "significant other." Update: her name is Emily Bryant.

You say, very clearly and unambiguously "They were in his car together at 3 am."

You say, very clearly and unambiguously, "They were not in his car." But police say she was in the car.

The incident did occur at 3 am. What is the disinformation? I'd love to read the police report.

The part of the story I like is where, after safely putting the lady in the car, he turned to confront the gang instead

Scary that Coristine's phone was stolen! He's a "special employee" at the Social Security Administration.

My guess is after all is said and done, this is going to be really skeevy. At best.
