At least Baltimore's violent crime rate has been decreasing like Washington DC's has. So give us locals a little credit.

Yes, Baltimore is a largely crime ridden and impoverished city that has declined when it lost its manufacturing base and the jobs that disappeared with it. The tax base has diminished as the city lost about half of its peak population. Occupation by the military will not eliminate decay, poverty and crime. Trump and his henchmen neither understand that fact nor do they care.

Baltimore has seen a significant decrease in its crime rate, particularly in violent crime, with homicides down 22% and non-fatal shootings down 19% in the first half of 2025 compared to the previous year. This reduction is attributed to a comprehensive public safety strategy that includes community engagement and addressing root causes of violence.
