a hellhole with dangerous crimes everywhere so women go for assholes instead of nice guys when they marry (it's science) thus they marry Republicans. Same thing with poverty: make poverty grow and middle class and upper middle class will feel their children could fall into poverty when they grow up so what is left of the middle class and upper middle class get mean and nasty and stop voting Democratic because they now have to hoard money and don't want to pay taxes (see Mexico). Financial stress, by doing things like increasing the cost of University and not forgiving student loans, also makes the people who suffer from it to not vote with reason, but with passion (so they vote on sexism, racism, homophobia instead of their economic best interests - it's science).
