When white men's lives are the only thing deemed to have value, then the lives of black and minority people are also diminished. Just compare the numbers of of black-versus-white when the subject is capital punishment and death row prisoners. A vast majority of death sentences are carried out on black criminals, while white (male) criminals are more likely to receive mitigated sentences. It's not that white people are committing fewer crimes, it's that they are convicted but receive lighter sentences than the black convicts.
Yes the patriarchy as you describe it controls most of the wealth and political power even now ... in the 21st Century. Most men can't see the problem with it, and that's why things will never change in my lifetime.
