Also that religion and science can be used for good or bad. The capacity of mankind to drive ourselves to extinction reminds me of my favorite lines from Epitaph by King Crimson:

Knowledge is a deadly friend
If no one sets the rules
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools
