Healthcare- single payer- how do we get there? [View all]

How do we get to single payer if 80% of the people are getting subsidies from employers or if they work for the government they are getting subsidies.
An example of that is a family of four might pay $500-$1000 with a $2,000 deductible.
My last year paying for my wife’s bronze plan was $832 per month with a $7,000 deductible.
My friend has his own business and he is paying $24,000 per year with a $7,000 deductible.
Why would people ever support single payer if they get their insurance through their employer?
Any ideas how we get to single payer?
