(16,986 posts)I think technically I am that and I dislike Jill Stein, Putin and for that matter I am not a huge Chomsky fan, though I appreciate Nathan Robinson and Current Affairs (though they do bash democrats). It is why I rarely post their articles here. Still they are well worth reading imo for reasons unconnected with electoral politics.
Chomskys ties to the Epstein Files and his response when asked about it made me think of how some of his ways have always grated on me.
Whether it is the far left, liberals or even Republicans sometimes, the world is not that non nuanced nor are people that boxed up.
I am generally far left. But I also agree with a lot of the critiques of left messaging. I saw a debate between three people all of whom I respect and like: Briahna Joy Gray, Matt Stoller and Alec Karakatsanis. It was filled with rancor, but they are all decent and on the same side
Many people may disagree with them but there is no indication that any of them are Putins puppets. Though Edward Snowden probably was and his whole drama never impressed me.
You can disagree with people without it being as reductive as that. The far left does it. The right does it and liberals do it. I think it has more to do with the internet version of Crossfire having become the predominant mode of debate.
I respect board rules so I dont post more lefty stuff like Yasha Levines or CA here.
But while I agree on Jill Stein (never liked her and dont buy her), I dont think the human brain processes the world that way when not focused on explicit, boots on the ground electoral politics.
I am not even American. But America has affected my life and wallet a bunch and my slender networks are partly there, so I do follow your politics. My views of course are mostly tied to the effect tech and politics and political discourse have on the human brain.
