Yesterday was difficult. The brutal murder of a lady who could have been my daughter, niece, or cousin knocked the wind out of me. I'm already dealing with two serious illnesses in my family. I needed to get away from my thoughts. Alone in a crowd sounded like the best option. But out of that crowd came my sister's 9-year old grandson, who had previously seemed a tad afraid of this old ancestor from a safe distance. Three different times he came over, without saying a word, and hugged me.

Since those hugs, I've been focusing my thinking on what needs to be done to repair this broken country for that little boy's generation. I have an idea -- perhaps as crazy as the boy had previously assumed (correctly) that I am -- that I am trying to organize into an outline in my mind, to post here on DU.
