1) There are multiple factions in the RW sphere. More than ever, Trump is not in control of everything. This could have been orchestrated by parties that are not entirely friendly to Trump. They are all backstabbers.

2) Any operation like this involves "dressing the scene". Go listen to the Rob Reiner podcast series that details all the connections that were being made years ahead of the JFK assassination.

This could be a lone wolf. But the presence of a manifesto could just as easily have been part of the scene dressing. One factor that is hard to explain is that Trump only announced he would be attending the Dinner on Monday. It seems highly doubtful a guy in California would have woken on Tuesday and said "Eureka, this is the opportunity I have been waiting for."

The guy could be nuts. Many people are.

Or it could have been a carefully planned stunt. Dirty tricks happen a lot in politics, especially when people are raking in literally billions of dollars from their positions of power.
