6. I live in one of those rural red areas of NY so I know that they exist.

My small city is purple surrounded by rural red farming areas and small red villages and hamlets. There is another small city in my county which is solid blue. Buffalo and some of its suburbs are blue. Downstate (NYC area) is a strong blue area with a few red pockets.

There are other cities that are blue or purple scattered through the state. Even in the rural red areas, there are individuals and small groups that are not red.

There are also a lot of Independents. Besides the very left DSA, there is a similar party here called the Working Families Party.

In the current political climate, with Trump's unpopulariity, I do not think that NYers will choose a far right MAGA governor.
