tactic. It’s another way they use women (by casting them as weak) to achieve their twisted goals. They want people to believe that only GOP men can rescue, poor, wretched and helpless women. It’s a form of misogyny and social control.

It was used to great effect during the run-up to the Iraq war. The book The Terror Dream by Susan Faludi goes in-depth about how concern is weaponized. The Iraq war was never about women’s rights, yet the right wanted it to seem that way.

Conservatives and misogynists don’t give a damn about women. If they did, they wouldn’t pass abortion restrictions that result in women dying in ER parking lots or at home after they were denied care. The legislation in the article is about enforcing rigid gender roles and trying to make trans people an enemy of purity and femininity.
