In the not so long ago past I also worked for "The government" at one time . This was not some sexy fed position that captures headlines or stirs vast controversy but a small obscure county job. The facility that I worked at had a large amount of public interaction daily so we were very much visible even if not at all interesting. I was the senior person in charge. One time during an election cycle I had an employee who started putting up campaign material around the place for a certain candidate in the local election He tried to give me crap for it when I took it all down but cooled his jet's when I told him I would take this to the next level up if he kept up his bullshit ( even though I had the seniority I did not have the power to fire, That was one level up from me ) Even though I had my own personal leanings in the area politics I knew damn well when one is a public employee well then,, One serves the public, That's it, You don't view people walking through the door as "Democrat's', "Republican", ect. You view them as the public your expected to serve with the same amount of courtesy and service all the way around. The elected people of course are expected to openly expound on their party affiliations but in my opinion regular civil servant's ( hourly people in private business) need to stay apolitical at work and remember they are there to do a job for "THE PUBLIC'' regardless of how they lean politically ( And yes, I do know campaign posters and the like are illegal on Government property, One of the reasons I jumped this guy)
