4. The Republicans are having a bigger civil war

They are split between those who want a fast budget bill now with funding for deportation (the border is secure though they will for sure call it border funding) and on the other hand, the old style tax break Republicans.

Tax breakers want to extend the current tax breaks, adding 1.7T to the debt, and maybe offset it with cuts to Medicaid and even the holly grail of SS and Medicare. Just nibbles around the edges. Corporate tax breaks, SALT cap removal to keep rich Dems happy.

On the other side are the immigration hawks and cut taxes on tips, cut taxes on Social Security, and cut taxes on overtime.

Over on the R side it corporatists vs the pandering to the working class. Trum is silent.

If the corporatists give in to the new guys, it will make the real budget bill that comes up later much harder to pass.

They want the working class votes, but the wealthy want the money too. Can't have both.
