My dad (the middle son of 3) enlisted in the Air Force when the Korean War started, and was lucky enough to be posted in Okinawa, on the ground, for the duration of his hitch.

His older brother was an Army MP who guarded Tojo during his incarceration and trial for war crimes. I don't believe he was ever in combat in the Pacific theater, as that was a prerequisite for guarding the Japanese prisoners.

The youngest brother was an Air Force officer who flew SIGINT missions "off the Russian coast" during the Cold War. (He never fessed up to us as having been in Russian airspace...if he did indeed fly into it.) We never knew what he did until much later, but we had our suspicions because the USAF taught him to speak fluent Russian after he enlisted.
