such as my entire family, and to see them get to the Super Bowl and lose. It would be devastating to them and the community at large after getting there 5x and losing each time. If they win against KC today, that scenario comes into play. I’m not a big sports fan, but when you live in WNY Bills osmosis cannot be avoided entirely so a loss today would be a downer, but a loss in the Super Bowl would destroy the Bills Mafia and the community at large.
I’ve always thought that if the emotional energy and money that goes into spectator sports could be redirected into politics to produce real change for the better in this country, we’d be looking at a country with universal health care, free college, stronger unions, the rich and corporations paying their fair share, and a less stressful existence for all Americans. But it is what it is.
