5. Actually, Most Don't Get 10%

The top flight players pay the caddy a year round sum, with bonuses for top 10, top 5 or a winning finish.
But, the salary includes the off-course shares too, as the endorsements only come with big success.
More likely the caddies get 3 to 5% of the player's total golf income, but they make a lucrative minimum yearly amount that is guaranteed.
The 10% thing is the old way, for the star player, though it still exists among the mid and lower level competitors.
The caddies take the same risk of a lean year as the player's.
Obviously, guys who only make $20k 25 times a year can't guarantee a caddy $600k!
But, if a caddies working for a big name gets 5% of $40 million, the caddy has a pretty good job!
