2. Hickenlooper can run for the US Sen. in 2020, get elected & sworn in on Jan. 2021, then resign ASAP.

Governor Polis can appoint a progressive Democrat to Hickenlooper's US Senate seat. Whoever Polis appoints to the US Senate will have to run in the 2022 special election. Every current CO Democratic statewide elected official including Polis and Bennet are up for re-election in 2022 and they are favored to win re-election in 2022.
