BTW, your Mac may feel slower for a while after clearing the caches - the caches get rebuilt. Then OSX should feel a nice bit zippier. If you rebuild the spotlight index, that will take some time to be rebuilt, but what you'll get is an up to date search, without remnants of files that are long gone. And, unlike Windows Registry cleaners, rebuilt from scratch actually works
