It is about gender, how you identify and express yourself, not sexuality, who you are sexually attracted to.

Note that in oppressive societies gender expression can be dangerous or criminalized, just as sexual expression can be.

Binary gender people identify and express as exclusively female or male.

Nonbinary people can identify as and express a whole range of gender qualities between the binary poles of female/male, mixing, alternating, creating entirely new categories, rejecting all gender categorization.
