Our society is making this problem much worse as time passes. This new wave of demands for self-sufficiency and independence drives people apart and it especially thrives on the male ego. I believe social media makes this problem much worse, as it allows people to make claims and statements they would never do in-person.

Exercising humility and face-to-face sharing of our lives, charity and community service are nowadays looked down upon by many but are ways we can help improve our human condition and reduce self-harm.
