(18,565 posts)I've been part of a few forums before DU and this is by far a very good one.
Sharing thoughts among people has given rise to some of the greatest accomplishments ever. I don't ever hope for greatness but someone who makes a contribution that is great and far reaching may go home one night and use my potato recipe and be pleased with it and, adding that small joy to other thoughts and memories, they may do a great thing.

Find your own level of moderation, but I hope you'll stay or visit frequently. My daughter runs a cat rescue and my wife frequently says often she likes animals more than a lot of people.
I wrote a few days ago that it would be great to see if US repurpose 1% of the $585 billion 2016 defense budget and just give it in aid to one of the world's poorest countries. Maybe the hate of the world would take a breather.
So many people give to support another person, family or worthy cause not expecting a return on investment or a great alliance but just because it's the right thing to do. Maybe the country could follow suit.
I believe people are much more good than evil and stories like this prove it to me:
