There are 3 grades of permit in CT
Ammo permit: allows one to buy ammo and nothing else.
Long gun permit: allows one to buy a rifle or shotgun and ammo, but not a handgun
Pistol permit: allows one to buy and carry* a handgun as well as buy a long gun and buy ammo


...and I have a Connecticut non-resident pistol permit. I wonder if that entitles me to all of the above.

I also wonder about the utility of the "ammo permit." Are there a lot of people who want to buy ammo but aren't interested in buying guns?
