All my respect is gone for Tommy John [View all]
I'm not sure if this is more appropriate for the baseball forum or somewhere else on here. If it's the latter, I hope it can be moved.

Rather than anything he did on the field or the surgery that bears his name John offered a different explanation for why he hasn't been voted into Cooperstown.
"Maybe because I voted for Donald Trump," John told The Michael Kay Show on Wednesday.
"You think that's it?" Kay responded.
"Probably," John said. "I don't know."

All of Tommy John's BBWAA eligibility was used years before the insurrectionist came down the escalator, before the 2016 election. I never would've known he voted for TFG if he didn't say anything here, but we're supposed to believe who you voted for has an impact on you having opportunities for years and not getting in?
Now, I am completely objective when it comes to Cooperstown. I've felt Tommy John should be in, and the ridiculousness of such a claim does not change my stance on his case, but it makes me think much less of him as a human being. And I feel the same way about Curt Schilling, who also should have a plaque, but is one of the most vile human beings ever to make it to the majors.
