8. They Are, But...

...they are asking for a property tax freeze at current rates. They aren't asking for money for the stadium.
They are also asking the state for infrastructure improvements (more exits off the expressway I believe) .
Obviously putting a new multi-billion facility there would raise the value of the property so the assessed value would rise substantially.
The Bears' position is that they don't want spend giant capital then have higher expenses because of the money they spent.
It's a logical business position but I also think the Bears are arguing over pennies compared to the dollars they are willing to spend & the huge increases in future revenues.
I'm not taking the Bears' side, but they are not asking the state to build them a stadium.
