These people are OBVIOUSLY convinced that homosexuality goes against their god's will. Just as convinced as liberal believers are that neglecting to take care of the poor is against THEIR god's will.

No, somehow the only way to discuss this and not be shouted down as an "anti-theist bigot" is to instead say that the former group isn't really religious at all, that they hate gay people because they want their land, or because they are political foes, or some such obnoxious whitewashing garbage. Or hey, I guess it would also be acceptable to say that the gay people "offended" the believers and therefore deserve to be attacked, right?
