7. I've never seen dishes that look like that

with all that minced garlic on it. Is that common? It looks like they took some regular dishes and just spooned some minced garlic on top, to sell the garlic.

I watch a couple of food programs on NHK World Japan (Lunch On, Bento Expo) and I've never seen garlic used, at least not that I recall.

I remember reading in a Clavell novel that Koreans were referred to as "Garlic Eaters" so I wonder if it has been imported into the cuisine from there at some point, and how common it's use is in traditional dishes, or if it's localized.

Pickled garlic sounds interesting!
