It sounds like they think he had a mild stroke caused by a blood clot, so they're giving him a blood thinner to get that taken care of, and they're doing tests to see what else, if anything, might be the matter.
If this was a stroke, the good thing is that you caught this while it was still mild and got him to the hospital. The doctors and nurses will know how to take it from there. But as a mother of young adults, I know how hard it is to just sit there helplessly and have to wait. There's nothing worse than having to go through something like this with our children.
