I Call on Bernie Sanders to Announce His Withdrawal Today [View all]

and to issue a strong endorsement of Joe Biden. There is no time for delay in this. Given the current pandemic crisis, it is time for the primary campaign to end. It is inevitable that Bernie Sanders will not become the Democratic nominee, so there is no reason, now, to delay a public announcement that he is ending his campaign.

Further, since the alternative to Joe Biden is another term of Donald Trump, there is no reason to withhold a strong, enthusiastic endorsement of the man who will be the Democratic nominee. Not to offer a solid, emphatic endorsement would be tantamount to telling supporters to vote however they wish or not to vote at all if that is their wish.

I call on Bernie Sanders to do what is best for this nation, not what best suits his own ego. There is no time to waste. The sooner we are all on board to elect Joe Biden in November, the sooner we can focus our attention on the current crisis and on the general election.

I am not the only one who is making this call. Will Senator Sanders do what is right, or will he continue to attack Joe Biden through his campaign staff and supporters? I cannot answer that question. Only Senator Sanders can.

He should do so, forthwith!

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
