Democratic Primaries

(96,043 posts)Some states hold a Federal primary on a different date from the state and local. I believe some of the first states to put off their primaries during the epidemic simply rolled the dates into one, the state and local being already scheduled for later (This split with local last helps local leaders keep some control of the outcome). The ballots are already printed, and though it is a Party function, ballots are under state law. If a candidate has conceded, votes cast anyway for him or her are not counted towards delegates, but if a candidate is still active, the name is there and ballots marked for that candidate must be counted. I do not know if state law applies in some way should, say, the Party simply proclaim votes for Sanders would not be counted towards delegates. That might be a little raw for public consumption, and open matters to suit in court.
Sanders must be pressured out of the race if this is to end. Whatever the pressure is, it must be overwhelming and done in bright lights....

primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
