In the deep reaches of the night . . .

I returned home from Vietnam in early 1970 after a year in the bush. I had no flashbacks or bad dreams.

For a while.

Then, one night about a year later, my wife waked me up. It was past midnight, I was standing on the back deck of our house, facing the woods. Ghosts and voices were coming out of the woods. I didn't even know where I was, did not know when or how I got out of bed and went out on the back deck.

Same thing happened at odd times over the next few years. Gradually it stopped. But still 55 years later and at age 81, from time to time I sit up late, after the house -- now the apartment -- is quiet. And sometimes the ghosts appear.

The ghosts are 18, 19, 20 year old kids that I helped put into body bags. Hell, I was a 24-yr-old kid.

Watching Lawrence tonight. He opened with a segment that featured the father and sister of Army Specialist. Declan J. Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Iowa. Coady was a student at Drake University in Des Moines. His father and sister spoke on Lawrence's show. I do not know how they had the strength to speak on camera.

"War is at best barbarism. . . . Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, more vengeance, more desolation. War is hell."
William T. Sherman

Would be a real shame . . .

. . . if copies of these photos were sent to the likes of RFK Jr., Locker Room Patel, Puppy Slayer Noem, I Hated High School Miller, Pam Blondie, Son-In-Law Jared, and the Big Man Himself.

US launches operations in Ecuador?

Source: https://www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2026/03/us-military-launching-operations-in-ecuador

On March 3, Ecuadorian and U.S. military forces launched operations against Designated Terrorist Organizations in Ecuador. The operations are a powerful example of the commitment of partners in Latin America and the Caribbean to combat the scourge of narco-terrorism.

Together, we are taking decisive action to confront narco-terrorists who have long inflicted terror, violence, and corruption on citizens throughout the hemisphere.

“We commend the men and women of the Ecuadorian armed forces for their unwavering commitment to this fight, demonstrating courage and resolve through continued actions against narco-terrorists in their country.” - #SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan.

As of 11:48 PM EST March 3, I find nothing about this on any of the news media -- only mention is on the blog cited above.

You KNOW he is planning . . .

. . . a HUGE "Victory In Iran" celebration and parade for July 4. You know he is.

Complete with tanks and other armored vehicles all of which had NO PART IN THE WAR roaring down Constitution Ave, ripping up the asphalt, not giving DC the money to repair.

Complete with an unending flyover by every aircraft in the inventory.

Complete with the USAF Thunderbirds and USN Blue Angels (WITHOUT THOSE DEI FEMALE PILOTS) performing stunts all day long (shut down all commercial air traffic in/out of Washington National Airport).

Complete with the lead vehicle being a HUMVEE with .50-cal machine GUN mounted, with Secretary of War Hogsbreath standing beside the .50-cal, saluting the Commander In Chief (that is, if they can get Hogsbreath sober).

YOU KNOW THIS IS WHAT HE'S PLANNING.

I simply had to turn it off

Had MSNOW on the tv while puttering around, getting ready for errands -- grocery, library, pharmacy.

MSNOW came on with live feed from Oval Office where Trump is greeting a German official.

As expected, the questions were directed to Trump about the Iran War. And that was all he needed to launch into disconnected, rambling soliloquies that went nowhere.

When I got up to mute the sound the Oval Office decorations caught my eye.

I'm from SW Mississippi with deep family connections to Louisiana and the Cajun area between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. A distant relative was closely associated with several late 19th century New Orleans bordellos -- so much so that his mother-in-law after his wife's death -- came to NO, grabbed their children, and took them home with her to rural Mississippi.

We have a few old black and white photos from two of the fancy houses of which he was part owner.

Trump's Oval Office decorations are exact copies of the decor in an 1890's New Orleans whorehouse.

What makes Trump . . . Trump?

Ever wonder what made Trump the way he is — vicious, uncaring, filled with hate, ignorant, unwilling to learn, unable to accept that he is wrong, viciously attacking anyone who disagrees with him?

The answer is in a few lines from the 1993 movie Tombstone in an exchange between the characters playing Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. The exchange focusses on the outlaw Johnny Ringo . . . who is just like Trump.

Wyatt Earp: What makes a man like Ringo, Doc? What makes him do the things he does?

Doc Holliday: A man like Ringo has got a great big hole, right in the middle of him. He can never kill enough, or steal enough, or inflict enough pain to ever fill it.

Wyatt Earp: What does he need?

Doc Holliday: Revenge.

Wyatt Earp: For what?

Doc Holliday: Bein’ born.

Lawrence just delivered a zinger!!

Lawrence played a series of videos of the two Bushes and Trump appealing to "the Iranian people," telling them how we love them are are bombing them for their own good.

Lawrence then delivered a real zinger: "Are the people of Cuba listening?"

Has anyone else heard enough?

I got up late this morning, turned on MSNOW, only to be greeted by the "Secretary of War" running off at the mouth, kissing Trump's ass, patting himself on the back, and rattling off acronyms and terminology that he seems to be making up on the spot.

I lasted about three minutes.

It's just a concussion

3 dead, dozen injured some with “concussive injuries.” That means TBI - Traumatic Brain Injury.

Anyone here see the tv commercials by Wounded Warrior Project? See those guys who don’t have a scratch but they can’t speak, cannot control their limbs, must be fed and dressed? That’s TBI. The concussion from being close to the explosion of 500 lbs of explosive or more causes irreversible damage to the brain.

Will Trump invite them to the White House for Big Macs?

During his first term he was at a service at Arlington where a multiple amputee sang The Lord’s Prayer. Trump told his staff he never again wanted to be seen wit “someone like that” because they don’t look good.

Why in God's name is Melania Trump leading a session of the United Nations?
